In autumn, Spitz an der Donau turns into a very special corner of the world. The colours of the vines gradually turn golden and the landscape becomes radiant with shimmering autumn colours. Nature is not the only reason why Spitz is such a special place in the autumn. The vineyards and wine cellars are a hive of activity. Here, fine wines are pressed that have been savoured for decades both in and beyond the Wachau region.

The residents of Spitz open their doors to all guests, as they delight in sharing this wonderful season. From 26 September 2009 to 11 October 2010, a host of winegrowing estates welcome and invite you to catch a glimpse of the vintners’ daily lives at one of the most exciting times of the winegrowing season. Not only winegrowers plan to tempt you with their finest vintages, but restaurateurs also prepare many delicacies with seasonal products sourced from the Wachau region.

For all wine lovers who delight in touring vineyards, numerous guided tours of the vineyards and local winegrowing areas are on offer. And these will also interest cultural tourists thanks to the special highlights of tours around the picturesque towns and churches. So let the local people of Spitz guide you through the autumn wine harvest and savour the delights of this wonderful wine season in Spitz an der Donau!
