.... Lucky Luke – Gottfried Gusenbauer in conversation with Achdé

Gottfried Gusenbauer und Walter Grond

No international biennale is complete without insights from the world of comics, and nowadays book fairs invariably include the “graphic novel”. “Cross-media” are a key feature of comics and the “graphic novel”. Art, pop culture and literature coincide to form a new genre in comic books. Their intermedia status easily suggests links with film, games and new media. Comics (“bande dessinée”, mangas) therefore achieved a leading international status.Morris, the creator of Lucky Luke, coined the term “ninth art” as a distinction for comic book art. Morris’s last wishes were also for Lucky Luke to continue as a comic book hero. The comic illustrator Achdé became a worthy successor. The star of Francophone comic books is now travelling to Spitz for the “European Literature Days” when he will join Gottfried Gusenbauer for a live question and answer session with the audience. The agreement concluded in 2013 for long-term collaborative projects with the Karikaturmuseum Krems offers the European Literature Days a truly unique status among international literature festivals. Integrating graphic novel literature within the annual programme also creates a link between the literary marketplace and the world of comic book aficionados. The close proximity of Spitz and the Art Mile Krems also provides unique opportunities to showcase literature.
